Martin's notes: I had watched a documentary on the television about women who were abused by their partners but who still stayed with them. I tried to put myself into the position of the abusive partner, rather than the
abused which would have been more usual. I think this gives the song a sinister tone. You can hear Sice doing his Tim Buckley impression at the very beginning. We were besotted with Pet Sounds at this time.
Everything had to have harmonies (or ‘harmalades’ as we called them) and Vibraphones.
