The Boo Radleys - Find The Way Out

Lyrics/Notes

 The Finest Kiss

Martin's notes: When I was at school I used to leave everything to the last minute. My homework was done the morning it was due, if at all. Now that I was in a band that was played on the radio and newly signed to the legendary Rough Trade Records surely I would discipline myself a little better? I booked a recording session at Protocol Studios in London. I thought that having a date would make sure that I would have the songs written sooner rather than later but, the night before we were due to travel down to the capital I still hadn’t written the lead track. I sat on my bed with my guitar in the flat I shared with Sice on Princes Road, L8 and spent the night trying to find something. The record I loved more than any other at the time was Teenage Fanclub’s ‘Everything Flows’. I don’t think I had written anything with a proper chorus before and that was my intention. Once I had it I was too nervous to play it to Sice at first, it seems strange now but I wasn’t very confident back then, despite my cockiness in interviews. I finally played it to him and he loved it and so we recorded it with Alan Moulder. I don’t remember too much about the sessions but they must have gone well because we were pretty happy afterwards. The lyrics are about my first serious girlfriend. Man, she was serious.
Lyrics: I think about you sometimes because I know it helps my piece of mind. It’s not that I don’t notice you, I have her love so bright it stings my eyes. I could attempt to turn away because I know I can’t escape myself. Just don't expect any sense because you’ll find it’s just a waste of time. Have you seen her? The finest kiss is mine. Have you seen her? Heaven every time.
